Enriching your Homeschooling by Appreciating & Meshing Differences

Typical homeschooling problem: Mom and child approach learning in different ways.

LEARNING STYLES CONFLICT EXAMPLE:

Highly HIGHLY ORGANIZED MOM learns in a SYSTEMATIC, DISCIPLINED way.

But her DAUGHTER learns in a more SPONTANEOUS, HANDS-ON way.

MOM asks DAUGHTER to study solar system by READING BOOKS and CREATING neat INFO CHARTS.

DAUGHTER complains, saying:
"Can't we MAKE something, or DO something?"

Q#1: Should MOM toss her approach and let her DAUGHTER do only what she wants?

Q#2: Should MOM maintain her approach and insist that her DAUGHTER learn iN the more traditional way?

Q#3: Or is there a THIRD WAY?

When parents aren't aware of learning style differences - or perhaps they're aware of the differences, but don't know how to address them - the result can be irritation, confusion, disappointment, and hurt feelings - a hornet's nest of problems that can challenge any family's homeschooling endeavor.

SO WHAT’S THE SOLUTION?

In his ‘Learning Styles Fine-Tuning" Workshop, presenter Josh Rappaport helps parents identify the clues that reveal the learning styles of themselves and their children.

Armed with this understanding, parents can design curriculum in such a way that both the parents and the children become happier homeschoolers.

Participants will identify their own learning styles, and those of their children, then plan a unit taking into account everyone’s needs.

The material in this workshop derives from the Singing Turtle Homeschool Starter Kit, co-authored by Josh and his wife, Kathy. This Starter Kit will be available for sale at the Workshop.
