his "Nimble Numbers"
Workshop, author and math enthusiast
Josh Rappaport demonstrates and lets participants
test out a wide range of techniques for performing
calculations in their heads (even algebraic
calculations) with greater speed and ease.
Josh
demonstrates techniques that range from simple
(the "bouncing 9s" trick for addition)
to complex (such as the "prime suspects"
method of reducing fractions). Throughout, participants
are encouraged to work at their own level and
to gradually overcome their fears, if they have
them, or to take greater numeric risks, if they
revel in the thrill.
Because
the number tricks taught at this workshop range
from elementary to advanced, the "Nimble
Numbers" Workshop is one that homeschoolers
with children of any age: 5 - 18, will enjoy
